How to Deal With the Dog Days of Summer!

HOW TO DEAL WITH THE DOG DAYS OF SUMMER!

This month we were excited to start our new “TWO SESSION” Relief Society Activity. This was done to enable sisters that work or have different schedules to join us at their most convenient time. The morning session started at 10:30 am and the evening session was at 6:30 pm….

Of course our cute Stacey greeted us with a doggie bag full of nutritious treats.

😀😃 😀😃

Our guest speaker was Dr Michael Wimmer.  He discussed tips on healthy living.  We also received great information, such as:

 FIVE REASONS TO GET HEALTHY!

1.    Disease prevention

2.    Get energized

3.    Improve your mood

4.    Glowing skin & hair

5.    Invest in yourself

“MY PLATE” information from USDA Center for Nutrition

20 HEALTHY HABITS TO PROMOTE WEIGHT LOSS

We also learned about GRAZE ANATOMY, SUPER SNACKS & GROW FOODS.

        This is Dr Mike's Motto

Eat Well    Move Well    Sleep Well    Think Well

Are you subsidizing your illness or investing in your wellness?

In the morning session, Becky Moberly, from the SunRiver 3rd Branch,  taught us Balance & Strength Exercises to
IMPROVE OUR BALANCE.

We received handouts so we can do these exercises at home!

June 2022 - "Walk A Mile In Someone Else's Shoes"

                                           Tuesday, June 14, 2022

The Relief Society Sisters had a wonderful Activity

We were asked to bring ONE SHOE, to tell an UNUSUAL, FUNNY, or UPLIFTING STORY about when we were wearing the shoe!

Lovely Kathleen Kubo was our speaker.
Kathleen shared her experience with a homeless lady, that had just been
released from prison. This lady became her friend!
Three years later, when Kathleen was at the Oakland Temple, she saw two temple workers.  It was her friend & friend's husband who were both now serving in the Temple!!! 😍

Donna is always helping, serving, loving, going & going, the extra mile!  THANKS for your Service!

Angie brought her temple shoe! She worked MANY hours in the Temple, washing, cleaning, training and serving in her Temple Shoes.

Stacey brought her roller skates, AND she still SKATES!!
Aren't those pink wheels and pink laces just perfect for Stacey!! 💗

When 18 year old Charlotte arrived at work, she realized she had two different shoes on!  So being a clever young girl, she took some bandages and wrapped one of her feet and pretended she had experienced an injury! 🤣🤣

While serving in the Nauvoo Mission, Donna P. wore Pioneer Dress Boots. She put a lot of MILES on them!

Ginny is into sports, watching, her children and grandchildren participate,  as well as participating herself.  She and Doug had a farm in Marriott-Slatterville, UT for many years, where her work boots were used.
She wore out her nicer boots while a Relief Society President for 14 YEARS!

While living in Salt Lake City, Judy worked for a Wood Working Company. Soon we  will ALL get to see some of the beautiful wood from the Company, that her
"BOOTS"
saw - at the newly renovated St George Temple!

Jill’s Grandfather was a shoemaker, from England!  He had the assignment from his company to design a new shoe for women.  Women wore lace-up shoes during the 1920’s.  His design was the first pump shoe.  It was entered in the Paris France Expedition, in approximately 1921.  The shoe was wildly popular and women wanted them!! Jill was given the small shoes that were used as a mock-up for the full sized shoes.

Ardis’s Mother Bronzed Ardis' Baby Shoes.  What a special memory for her, as her Mother just passed away at the age of 99!

Barbara brought her Organ Shoes and told a little of her 56 year journey of playing organs in MANY places!

Rhonda showed us her Dance Shoe!  Sounds like she had many years of great
💃💃dancing experiences!💃💃

Work Boots & Calves
Laura brought a work boot and told us the fun story of when she and her husband decided it was a good idea to buy and raise calves!! 🤣🤣

Mary Ann told us the story of her “Broken Leg, Boot Cast,” that lead to her Baptism, and her family joining the Church!

Lora and her husband have served several missions.  She showed us her "MISSIONARY SHOE" that has been through challenging and wonderful Missionary experiences!
(Lora, did you lock the temple?) 🤣

Renae’s ordered "REALLY CUTE SHOES" on-line, and it turned into a complicated, but really fun story!

Of course we had a scrumptious lunch with Salads and Cupcakes!

We had BEAUTIFUL, BEAUTIFUL FLOWER arrangements everywhere!
Thank you Beverly Hunter!

MANY pairs of gently used shoes were brought to donate to SWITCHPOINT, as well as socks!

4th Branch Sisters, you are all such great examples of "SERVICE" THANK YOU!

Thank you Valerie Hogan and the Relief Society Activity Committee!

Picnic in the Park!

Laughing Yoga and Picnic in the Park!

About 30 Relief Society Sisters had a fun morning at the Atkinville Park!

Carol Baldwin taught us Laughing Yoga!
Laughing yoga is a popular movement and breathing exercise that aims to cultivate joy, bring out your inner child, and help you let go of daily life stressors.

Considering that laughter is contagious it's no surprise that we all had so much fun!

First Step is Clapping

Repeating "Very Good, Very Good, Day!"

Add Laughter

& Deep Breathing

Some of the moves we learned were:

Mental Floss

Greeting a Friend after a Long Absence

Lion Laughter

Heart Laughter

We ended with beautiful music and a few minutes of quiet reflection.

Thank you Valerie Hogan and your wonderful committee for organizing our Activity

AND Thank you Carol 💖 for teaching us

LAUGHING YOGA!

It was a

"Very Good, Very Good, Day!"
