May 2023- Keeping It Simple






 


May's Activity Day was all about Keeping It Simple.  


Claudia Healy spoke to us about 'End of Life Preparedness'.

The discussion included the importance of estate planning.  There are 5 main components:

  • Wills and trusts
  • Durable power of attorney
  • Medical or Healthcare Power of Attorney
  • Living will and Advance directives for medical decisions
  • Beneficiary designations
Funeral planning, Social Security, VA benefits, and other topics were also discussed.  

There are dozens of details regarding what can be completed before we pass that will be a blessing to those we leave behind.   

Mary Jo Snyder and Patty Donohoe shared great ideas on 'Living a Clutter-free Life'. 

What are the 10 Commandments of a Clutter-Free Life?

  • Live within your means
  • Purge often
  • Have a place for everything
  • Don't underestimate the importance of a junk drawer. 
  • Become a habitual putter-awayer.
  • Store things where you use them. 
  • Stop clutter before it enters your home with a landing strip. 
  • Go paper-free
  • Realize that life is about experiences, not things. 
  • Forgive yourself and try again

Following then program we were treated to a wonderful lunch of various salads and bread sticks in the gym.
