The First Presidency's 2021 Christmas Message

The First Presidency of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints — President Russell M. Nelson, President Dallin H. Oaks and President Henry B. Eyring

When we sing “Silent Night,” we know the life of that Babe of Bethlehem did not begin there, nor did it end on Calvary. In a premortal realm, Jesus was foreordained by His Father to be the Messiah, the Christ, the Savior and Redeemer of all humankind. He was foreordained to atone for us. He was wounded for our transgressions and bruised for our iniquities (Isaiah 53:5). He came to make immortality a reality and eternal life a possibility for all who would ever live (see 1 Corinthians 15:20–223 Nephi 27:13–14).

At this sacred Christmas season, we testify that our loving Heavenly Father “so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life” (John 3:16).

Celebrating the Season of Hope

Holiday Luncheon
4th Branch Relief Society
Tuesday, November 9th

We started our luncheon with a program
"Celebrating the Season of Hope."
Thank you Laura Jones & all who helped in organizing such a lovely program.

Christine Fackrell sang a beautiful song
"Peace in Christ"

Donna Poulter played a tape of her husband/family singing a beautiful arrangement of:
"Because I Have Been Given Much"

We loved listening to Lorraine Driggs as she read and told us the story of the book
"Christmas Jars"
by Jason Wright

Newspaper reporter Hope Jensen uncovers the remarkable secret behind the "Christmas Jars", glass jars filled with coins and bills anonymously left for people in need. But along the way, Hope discovers much more than the origin of the jars. When some unexpected news sets off a chain reaction of kindness, Hope's greatest Christmas Eve wish comes true.

We enjoyed a wonderful lunch of soups, salads, and dessert!

Thank you to all the Sisters that helped make this Luncheon such a wonderful day.

September Activity at the St George Visitors Center

St George Visitors Center

Our September Relief Society Activity

We were greeted at the Visiitors’s Center by sister missionaries who bore their testimonies of the Savior and started our tour by viewing the magnificent Christus statue with the Savior’s out stretched pierced hands and feet reaching out to all of us. We know He is the Savior of us all. We listened to the recorded narration of Jesus’s teachings that proclaimed His love for us all. We also marveled at the beautiful mural with a painting of the Earth surrounded by several constellations.

Elder Kent Tingey, Director of the Center, then spoke to us about the early pioneers who came to settle the area as directed by the Prophet Brigham Young and built the beautiful temple and which was dedicated in 1877 and was the first temple constructed in Utah.

This historic photo shows the St. George Utah Temple’s shorter steeple and dome soon after its construction before it was hit by lightning, St. George, Utah, circa late 1870s | Photo courtesy of Utah State Historical Society, St. George News

He also made reference to a book, All That Was Promised…….The Saint George Temple and the Unfolding of the Restoration that was co-authored by Brother Blaine Yorgason, a former member of our Branch.

Several sisters shared their family connections to the original settlers and builders of the temple. Sister Diane Jensen and Sister Donna Poulter led us in the Primary song,  “I Love to See the Temple” and then we did see the renovated temple from inside the center. Bro. Tingey informed us that the temple is scheduled for completion in November 2022.

We viewed other displays and each sister received a Crumbl Cookie as we departed.

Don’t forget to take your non-member friends to the Visitors’ Center where they can be on dedicated temple grounds and feel peace and tranquility!

Thank you to Sisters Kathleen Kubo and Jean Jensen for organizing this activity.

Thanks also to Ardis Jensen for pictures and Activity information. 😀
