Our September Relief Society Activity
We were greeted at the Visiitors’s Center by sister
missionaries who bore their testimonies of the Savior and started our tour by
viewing the magnificent Christus statue with the Savior’s out stretched pierced
hands and feet reaching out to all of us. We know He is the Savior of us all.
We listened to the recorded narration of Jesus’s teachings that proclaimed His
love for us all. We also marveled at the beautiful mural with a painting of the
Earth surrounded by several constellations.
Elder Kent Tingey, Director of the Center, then spoke to us about the early pioneers who came to settle the area as directed by the Prophet Brigham Young and built the beautiful temple and which was dedicated in 1877 and was the first temple constructed in Utah.

He also made reference to a book, All That Was Promised…….The Saint George Temple and the Unfolding of the Restoration that was co-authored by Brother Blaine Yorgason, a former member of our Branch.
Several sisters shared their family connections to the original settlers and builders of the temple. Sister Diane Jensen and Sister Donna Poulter led us in the Primary song, “I Love to See the Temple” and then we did see the renovated temple from inside the center. Bro. Tingey informed us that the temple is scheduled for completion in November 2022.
Thank you to Sisters Kathleen Kubo and Jean Jensen for organizing this activity.
