Come Warm Your Soul

🍁 🍂 🍁 🍂 🍁 🍂 🍁 🍂 🍁 🍂

Beautiful fall decorations greeted us in the cultural hall for 2 fun sour dough bread demonstrations.

'Every leaf speaks bliss to me, fluttering from the autumn tree'

Emily Bronte

Fall is proof that change is beautiful.

Crisp air, cozy sweaters, and falling leaves.

The time when everything bursts with its last beauty, as if nature had been saving up all year for the grand finale.

'Be yourself; everyone else is already taken.'

by Oscar Wilde

Sisters gathered and visited before the activity began.

Autumn...the year's last, loveliest smile.

Sherril Rasmussen got us thinking about 'What warms your soul'.

Among the many responses were:

 cooking,

baking,

 temple attendance and service,

acts of kindness administered,

 volunteering at the food bank,

 putting down our phones,

getting rid of negativity in our lives,

taking a walk,

sunrise and sunsets...

Did you feel prompted to do something that warms your soul?

Our first demonstration was by Ginny Wimmer.

Ginny shared her tried and true recipe that is generations old.

Feeding the starter is required every 3 to 5 days.

Follow the recipe for exact details.

Our second demonstration was by Denise Goddard.

Denise's recipe had options for using a Batten bowl, baking in loaf pans or Dutch Oven.

Directions are included in the recipe above.

Our final Be The Light t-shirt winners were...

Patty Smith and her sister Candace.

Pauline Clyde

and Sue Olson.

Congratulations to all of the Be The Light

t-shirt winners.

Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your goods works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.

Matthew 5:16

Soups on!

The soups were delicious and definitely warmed our souls.

Sour dough bread starts are available from Ginny and Denise.

They can answer all of your questions about homemade sour dough bread too!

And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst.
Matthew 6:35

Thank you Denise and Ginny for your demonstrations on bread making especially for all of us who might be a bit intimidated by the process of making bread from scratch.

And thank you to our Relief Society committee members for always providing a great activity!

"The more I paint, the more I like everything."

-Pierre-Auguste Renoir

Elder Uchtdorf spoke of the powerful potential of art: “Art shows there is a greater purpose in life which transcends our daily worries, stresses, pleasures, and joys. Art can transmit a message of hope, light, and truth anchored in Jesus Christ, His glory, and His work for the eternal well-being of the whole human race. Expression through art is one of the ways we can help bridge the divide.”

"In crafting, there are no mistakes, only new discoveries and unique creations."

-Justine Jenkins
