April 2025- Preparing For a Rainy Day

 April 2025

Preparing For A Rainy Day

The table centerpieces were perfect for this Easter and spring season.

Cheerful and bright.

A table in the back of the room displayed how we can be prepared for an emergency.

Handouts were provided.

Sue Olson has a sign up sheet for freeze dried strawberries.  Each can is $14 and has a shelf life of 25 years.  Great for food storage, camping/hiking trips, using in Jello, or eating right out of the can.
Please see Sue if interested in purchasing.

Centerpieces on each table carried on the Easter/spring theme.

We played the Purse Game.

Our purses hold many important items. Although, many of the documents/items should be in a safe and secure place.

Does your purse have a safety pin?

Do you have important documents gathered and available?

(Wills, trusts, passports, birth certificates, marriage licenses, death certificates, financial documents)

Protein bar or electrolyte pack?

Is your food storage/72 hour kit specific to your dietary needs? Our needs change over the years.  Have you updated your kit?  Is it expired?

Do you have comfort items, electrolyte mixes, nail glue, blankets, candy, gum, snacks?

Do you need the help of a cane to walk?

How about an extra portable charger?

Do you have a back up charger for medical devices, hearing aids, CPAP, etc?

Do you have an address book?

Emergency numbers should be written down or programmed into your phone (family, neighbors, Bishop)

Exchange numbers with close friends of your children..

Do you have back up medication and an updated list of medications?

When you travel tale extra dosages.  You never know when you will be delayed.  Carry a list of updated medications including dosage and frequency.

Reusable shopping bag?

Is your 72 hour kit portable?  Can you carry your kit?  Is it in a heavy duffle bag or in a usable backpack?

Pad of paper

Do you meed reading glasses?  A pad of paper and pen might be helpful if you can't use your contacts or see small print or hearing aid batteries can't be charged.  Also good for taking notes about information you don't want to forget.

President Thomas S Monson:

Noah heeded God's command to build an ark...that they might be saved from the flood waters.  Yet, there was no evidence of rain or flood.  His actions were considered irrational.  The sun was shining and life moved forward as usual.  But time ran out. The floods came, the disobedient were drowned.  When God speaks and we obey, we will always be right.

Stacey DeSilva told a great story about her Grandfather (wink, wink) who was a farmer. He prepared the farm and animals ahead of an incoming storm.  There is great comfort in being prepared for the storms of life.

Soup's on!

We were treated to mouth watering soups, homemade bread, and the cutest cup0cakes.
Thank you, Shirley Erickson for the bread and cupcakes.!

Sherril Rasmussen shared her recipe for Shrimp Bisque. This is how you know a recipe is a favorite in their family.  Changes made to fine tune it to perfection.

Zatarain's Shrimp and Crab Boil makes the soup a delicious bisque.

Susan Blower shares her recipe for Lasagna Soup.

It was creamy and delicious!

Lunch Bunch will be held at Paula's Mexican Restaurant

Tuesday, April 22 at 11:30.  Be sure to sign up so we have the correct number of saved seats.

Hope to see you there!
